I had made pasta and gravy for dinner two nights ago.

I still smelled the garlic two days later. I knew I heard the motor running, but I was wondering if the fan to the ventilation system was working. I removed the air filter and noticed that it was nearly clogged with grease and dirt. I took it to the sink and washed it with a lot of liquid detergent. matter how hot I got the water; it wasn’t cutting through the clog of grease on the air filter. I decided that instead of fighting with it, I would just go to town and buy a new air filter. I looked at the fan blades to see how dirty they were. The fan blades had a quarter inch of grease on them. I removed the fan blades and stuck them in the sink to soak in hot soapy water. I thought about how much dirt and grease were in the louvres outside. Before I was done with all of my thinking, I decided it would be best if I were to just purchase a new stove ventilation hood. I knew it was an extreme measure, but the ventilation hood was at least ten years old, I was hoping to buy a ventilation hood that would run quieter and hopefully be more efficient in removing odors and vapors from the house. I bought a new stove ventilation system. Now, all I had to do was wait for my husband to come home and install it for me.
