When we moved into our home, we knew our HVAC system was old.
We had planned on installing a new HVAC system, but the money was never there.
When the pandemic came through, we had even less money than before. Now, we couldn’t even afford to have the servicing done. In the meantime, all I could do was to make sure my family and my dog were safe. I became what they call a hoverer. I was always asking my kids if they needed anything. I wanted to make sure they were following the rules and not sneaking out at night. I even hovered over my dog. I worried whenever I heard a sneeze or sniffle. I worried when I heard the air conditioning unit squeal. I knew the noise wasn’t a good single, but I had to try to ignore it for a while. One night, I was lying in bed and I heard the squeal of the air conditioning unit. The dog always slept near the air vent so he was cool at night. The air conditioner squealed, the dog yelped and then nothing. He had jumped and run right into the door frame. He laid there so still that I thought he was dead. I woke up my daughter and we took him to the emergency animal hospital. We found out he had a serious concussion and they kept him for observation. When I got that bill, I wished I had gotten the new HVAC system. The dog wouldn’t have a concussion and the new HVAC system may have been cheaper..
