I was sitting in the living room when I swore I saw something flying out of the air vents.
I knew it had to be dust or some other piece of dirt, and I ignored it, thinking I would vacuum the air vents the following day.
About an hour later, I noticed something flying out of the air vent again. Instead of it just being a piece of dust, I definitely saw wings and there was more than one. I screamed, knowing that I had some kind of infestation inside my air vents. Throughout the evening, I kept seeing more of these insects in my house. I called the HVAC company as I packed up a bag, readying to go to a hotel for the evening. The people at the HVAC company told me they couldn’t have anyone out for two days. I packed an extra outfit and left the house. After putting in the call to the HVAC company, I called an exterminator. I told him about the bugs flying out of the air vents. He told me to meet him at the house in the morning and he would look into the problem. He also told me I would need to have my ductwork cleaned when he was done. I had already taken care of the ductwork cleaning when I called the HVAC company. The exterminator told me the bugs looked like Mayflies, but he did not understand how they had gotten into the ductwork. He took care of the infestation and the HVAC technician showed up the next day to clean the ductwork.
