We bought a touch-free thermometer.

My husband asked me if I knew anything about touch-free thermometers, I knew they were usually infra-red and there were those that could be used with temperatures from 32F to 212F.

I had one at the house that I used for the kids.

He said he had just bought one for the store. He had to take every employees temperature before they came to work. I already knew this, but I wanted to know why the sudden reason for wanting to know more about infrared touch-free thermometers. He told me about the energy bill going up so high. He said that he knew the air conditioning was running way too much. He thought that since the air conditioning unit was fairly new, it should be running much shorter periods. He also came to the idea that if the AC was new and still running a lot, then there must be energy leaks somewhere. The air conditioned air had to be leaking outside. He wanted to know if I thought he could use the touch-free thermometer to check the outside windows for cool spots. That could show us where the AC was leaking through. I kind of chuckled, but I knew he was right. That could very well be where the air conditioning was going and why it was running so hard. He took the thermometer and headed outside. We had to be less than five feet away, but most of our windows were right above our heads. We found where the AC was leaking out around most of the windows. We knew we had to have the windows and the doors sealed. He didn’t think it would hurt to also have the attic sealed and new insulation on the attic ceiling.
