I started my cleaning services when I was just a kid

When I was a kid, I was one of the few who never had their mom nagging them to clean their room.

Actually, it was the opposite.

I like having a tidy room, and I kept it carefully organized I actually liked cleaning my room. Along with playing school, I also played cleaning lady. It’s what I really hoped to do when I grew up. I would ask my mother for a list of what she wanted cleaned. Then I’d gather up all of my supplies. I liked putting on the rubber gloves and filling a pail with soapy water. I loved the spray cleaners and the special clothes. I had my own squeegee for the windows. Acting like a cleaning lady wasn’t just a game because I was actually cleaning the house. My mother encouraged the game as much as possible. This gradually grew into a good job for me when I was in high school. My dad hired me to clean his office. The office was so sparkling clean that some of his co-workers hired me to clean their homes. I cleaned the homes of several elderly neighbors and some of the local businesses. I was making good money doing something that I enjoyed. I saved up for my own car and was able to expand my customer list. I continued this job while I attended community college. I gained several new commercial accounts. I added specialized floor maintenance, including floor stripping and waxing to my services. I shampooed carpets, handled janitorial services and learned how to properly treat stains. I even hired fellow students to help. I had turned a childhood game into a full blown cleaning service. Once I graduated with a business degree, I kept right on cleaning. My business was already successful. I have built one of the largest commercial cleaning companies in my entire area. I have twenty full time employees, eight vans and an extensive list of equipment. I still like the actual cleaning part of the job but don’t get to do it very often anymore.
