I’ve been advising my students to go to a trade school

With the high costs of college skyrocketing even more in the past few years, I have started doing something that’s frowned upon among most of my peers.

I’m a teacher at one of our local high schools. Recently, instead of pressuring my students to go away to a four year college and rack up mountains worth of student loans, I have been encouraging them to attend trade schools and community colleges instead. We are supposed to try and talk kids into going to college, but I personally just don’t think that college is for everyone. Trade schools that offer programs such as welding, electrician training, plumbing, and heating and air conditioning certification classes are really great for some people. I know that a lot of my former students have done the HVAC certification class at our local trade school and they are now loving their careers as HVAC technicians. I guess it really just depends on what kind of person you are whether or not college is the right path for you. I love the fact that some of my former students are really excelling in their careers as heating, cooling, and ventilation professionals. I think that it just goes to show you that college is not for everyone. The last time I needed my heating system repaired, I ended up with one of my former students as my HVAC technician! It was really nice to see him in his element. He was great at his job and he had my furnace repaired completely in just a matter of minutes.
