I was surprised when I heard some very loud banging coming from the garage one day. It was my son banging on the window A/C unit with a hammer. I asked him what in the world was going on and he said usually the A/C would start working when he hit it with a hammer. I told him that there was no way to treat the window A/C but I was surprised when it started working after another hit with the hammer. Regardless, I figured there was probably some loose wire in there or something. We both ended up opening up the thing and sure enough we were able to spot the wire that was loose. All it took was my soldering iron and a little solder to get the wire secure so the window A/C would never stop working. I told my son that was all there was to it and it was entirely unnecessary to bang the cooling machine with his hammer like that. After showing my son that, it gave him a fascination with repairing different gadgets around the house. He even went to junkyards to pick up old window A/C units and various appliances. Suddenly, he had a storage of window A/C units in the garage. When I asked him what he was doing with all those units, he said he wanted to fix them up and sell them. Sure enough, he worked hard to fix every single one and he was able to make a profit. Ever since, he has been seeking all types of junk to sell, but he does make pretty good money doing this.
