A couple of days ago, I noticed a strange and weird hissing sound coming from the air purifier in the front lobby.
It sounded like a gasket letting off steam.
It was an odd sound, but the air purifier still worked just fine. I didn’t say anything to my boss, because I thought the sound would go away. The air purifier was still making the strange and weird sound when I left for my lunch break, but it was gone when I came back. Yesterday, I noticed the same strange and weird hissing sound coming from the air purifier. Since it was the second time I heard the noise, I decided to inform my boss. She didn’t seem very interested in the fact that the air purifier was making a weird sound. She was dealing with a customer that wanted to return a shirt and a pair of pants. Clearly the lady had worn the shirt and pants multiple times. They were faded from being washed. She still wanted to return them for store credit and my boss was dealing with that issue. The lady had to be removed from the store by mall security. I left around the same time to go home for the day. When I came to work this morning, the maintenance staff was working on the air purifier. I knew the machine was making a strange sound. I wonder if we could have prevented the break down if my boss would have simply addressed the issue when I told her the previous day.
