Making the room very cold is risky when you have central cooling because you are cooling the entire house. Unless you have a thermostat that controls the temperature in each room, you will not be able to enjoy a very cold room unless you have a window unit AC or unless you want to pay a lot of money on your energy bill each month. Opting for a window unit AC when looking for a new place to live is the way to go.
