Dealing with ductwork leaks

During my past Heating, Ventilation and A/C repair appointment, the Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional pointed out something that I’d never recognized in the past… While she was making her way through my home, she noticed that all the HVAC vents were covered in dust. I will admit, I noticed that there was dust on the HVAC vent covers and I had been meaning to scrub them, however, life had been so crazy that I’d never gotten around to cleaning them. I was genuinely embarrassed when the Heating, Ventilation and A/C device professional called me out on the mess. However, when she pointed out the dust, she wasn’t making a reference to my cleaning skills. The Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional was saying that the dust buildup was a small problem caused by a much larger complication within… According to the Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional, dusty air vents were a sign of ductwork leaks. If there were leaks within the ductwork, the dust and debris would slip out and then buildup on the HVAC vents. In order to repair the leaky ductwork, I needed to call a Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional who specialized in cleaning and repairing ductwork. I designated an entire day for this Heating, Ventilation and A/C professional to fix the ductwork, and I’m blissful I did! She spent the whole day climbing into the system of ductwork and finding the leaks. She washed out the ducts and repaired the holes with duct tape. I watched her carefully so I could learn what she was doing in case the setback came about again. When she was done, I could tell a difference in my air quality right away!
