Before we moved to a new area, I honestly believed we wouldn’t see so much snow in the winter months.
I thought it was going to be just a little bit of chilly weather and nothing that was a big deal.
I certainly underestimated things greatly. I didn’t even have a snowblower at the start of winter, because I figured it was going to be mild. It was mild in the beginning because the temperatures stayed above freezing all the way into December. Then suddenly, we started to have temperatures plummeting and the snow storms came in strong. It was almost impossible to shovel all the snow, it took us a good amount of the day until a neighbor came over to our property to help us out. I also had to keep going back inside the house to get warmed back up because it was so frigid outside. The heating system fortunately works great. It’s an older boiler system but it is relatively energy efficient and it keeps the house piping hot. Eventually, I would like to upgrade that old boiler system to something even more energy efficient. I would definitely love to see the energy costs go down a little. I have considered getting a ductless mini split installed. I heard those are extremely energy efficient, especially for heating purposes. It also would be great to have multiple sources of heating in case our boiler system ever quits working on us when we need it the most. Well, now I have learned my lesson and I have a quality snow blower and heavy duty snow shovels. I also have some quality winter boots.
