Getting through a brutal winter season

This past winter has been absolutely brutal.

We were getting so much snow and the temperatures were bitterly cold. In the midst of all that, we had our boiler system quit working on us. Fortunately, we were able to set up portable heaters in the basement to keep the pipes from freezing. We also were able to use our fireplaces on the main floor to keep the house nice and toasty, despite losing our heating system. This made it easier for the HVAC professionals came out to work on the boiler system. They said they didn’t always get to come out to a place that actually felt comfortable in the middle of the winter months. Well, fortunately we love our fireplaces and we always keep up with them and have plenty of firewood stacked up. I also always knew it would be a good idea to have multiple sources of heating. On top of the boiler system and the fireplace, I have also been considering having a ductless mini split installed that is connected to solar panels. I always thought it would be awesome to have an HVAC that was assisted by solar panels. So anyway, it was great when we had our boiler system back up and running, but we were still killing ourselves clearing out all the snow we were getting slammed with. I can’t remember dealing with such a brutal winter with so much snow, I just hope this doesn’t happen every single year moving forward, that would be some kind of nightmare. Even though, we will be ready for whatever is to come.
