I enjoyed jumping rope as a kid.
I would practice a variety of skills and jump with friends.
Once I got older, I stopped jumping rope until just recently. I often watch the workouts of professional athletes. I look for new exercise programs and use these videos for motivation and tips. I realized that most of the athletes jump rope and make it look easy. I did some reading and learned that jumping rope is an excellent full-body workout. It works the core muscles and requires strength, balance and endurance. It also burns a lot of calories in a short amount of time. I began by buying a leather jump jump rope with weighted handles. I was surprised by how I struggled with it. Despite maintaining good physical fitness habits, I would be thoroughly exhausted within a minute. I practiced and steadily got better. I increased my skills and stamina. I wore through half a dozen leather jump ropes. I’ve now spent more money on a rope system that uses one set of handles and interchangeable ropes. Each rope is a different weight. Because the ropes rotate easier, I’ve been able to improve my skills. I’ve achieved crossovers, double jumps, high knees and running with the rope. I’ve gotten where I just love jumping rope. I’ve bought sneakers designed for jumping and a mat to soften the impact on my feet and ankles. I’ve downloaded an app onto my phone that provides guided jump rope workouts. I choose from HIIT and endurance training that are offered in beginner, intermediate and advanced levels. The app tracks calories burned, number of workouts, number of jumps and number of minutes.
