My wife called a company who could check our drainage field and make sure the sewage was draining properly. The next phone call was to the HVAC company to make sure the heating, air conditioning, and purification unit was working properly. We didn’t know the local HVAC company so we asked the realtor who we should call. It didn’t take long for her to find a card in her purse and give it to us. We never gave any thought to the fact that it was the homeowner’s realtor whom we had talked to and that she was working for him and not us. I was smart enough to know that it would take longer than ten minutes to inspect the HVAC, but I was anxious to move into our dream home. When after ten minutes the HVAC contractor had told us the HVAC system was okay, we were excited. We had only been in the house for three months when we realized our HvAC system was definitely not okay. My wife called the local HVAC company and had them inspect the entire HVAC system. When we found out the previous owners had been told the entire system was almost twenty years old and needed to be replaced, we were upset. Unfortunately, we had no recourse against them, or the realtor who had honestly done nothing wrong.
