I had been working in the local grocery store for almost ten years.
Whenever we had a HVAC inspection done, I was the one that led them through the store and into the area where they could access the heating and air conditioning systems.
Everyone of the HVAC techs that I met were nothing but polite and super nice. I expected this type of behavior from every HVAC tech met because those in the grocery store were what I used as a template for them all. Unfortunately, not all HVAC technicians are the same. When I had a problem with the HVAC system in my home, I called to have the furnace inspected and some repairs done. The woman I spoke to was really nice and she promised to send someone to my home the following day. I didn’t need to take off work, because the breakdown coincided with my day off. No sooner was the HVAC technician in the house, but he began acting a bit oddly. He pulled up a chair in the kitchen and asked if he could have a cup of coffee. It was early morning, so I thought that maybe he hadn’t had his yet. When he then asked for cookies and for me to sit with him, I began to get a bit worried. He was being a bit too friendly for my comfort. Finally, I asked him if he could please take care of my furnace because I had to get ready for work. As much as I hated lying, I didn’t think this little white lie was going to hurt anything.
