After several hours of trying things out, dad gave in. By that time mom was fuming and went to contact an AC business in the area. It was several more hours before an AC technician showed up to work on the unit. He noticed immediately someone had attempted some repairs and dad had to come clean. Mom wasn’t speaking to him and he tried his best to get her to calm down. Unfortunately, dad had made the issue worse and repairs would be too costly. The best option was to install a new HVAC system and stick to the experts only for service and repairs. Mom had to use money she’d set aside for other uses to buy a new HVAC system and never let dad off the hook for a long time. This is the reason why no one else apart from an HVAC pro can work on the HVAC at home.
