Hydrating during workout

I take several drinks of water after completing each exercise.

I grew up with well water that was overrun with iron and lime. The water was discolored, smelled awful and tasted worse. At that time, bottled water wasn’t a popular option. My mother would never have considered paying money for water. Instead, we just didn’t drink it. I never got in the habit of drinking water throughout the day. This has become a problem for me as an adult. While I realize the importance and benefits of proper hydration, I simply don’t think of it. It’s not unusual for me to go an entire day without a single sip of water. I drink a few cups of hot tea, have an occasional beer and usually allow myself a glass of red wine before bed. However, because of my extremely poor hydration habits, I’ve actually passed out several times. Dehydration has led to migraine headaches, vomiting, fever and chills. I started carrying a water bottle with me wherever I went, but I normally neglected to drink out of it. I then started working out to get fit and lose some weight. I realized that drinking water as part of my program was absolutely necessary. I make sure my water bottle is full before beginning the workout. I take several drinks of water after completing each exercise. I don’t consider my training session complete until I’ve finished the entire water bottle. Working up a sweat and elevating my heart rate definitely makes me thirsty. At the end of the workout, I refill the water bottle and try to sip on it throughout the day. While I still struggle to drink enough water, at least I’ve made improvements.
