ADA Compliant Upgrades are Important

As I get older and have more things wrong with me, I begin to understand the need for ADA compliant upgrades.

I had to take a flight somewhere a couple of years ago, and to tell the truth, I hadn’t been in an airport in twenty years.

I had to go through a big city airport, and I barely was able to navigate it. This kind of thing has made me more aware of the importance of ADA compliant upgrades to already existing buildings and ADA compliance during new construction. I am no longer able to navigate stairs very well because of two conditions that I have, even though I am still relatively young, so when there are buildings that have not yet put in ramps or other ADA compliant upgrades, it affects me, and I hate it. I will rarely go to a public building if I think the ADA compliant upgrades will not be sufficient for my needs. I realize that some buildings are just harder to change, but every effort needs to be made. People who have disabilities have a right to enjoy life, too, and ADA compliant upgrades go a long way to fostering that concept. I recently went to our civic center for a concert, and there was just no way at all to avoid about a million stairs. That will be the last time I will go to that building, and that’s a shame. I thoroughly enjoy concerts, plays, and all kinds of live events, but without enough ADA compliant upgrades, I simply can’t maneuver them well enough.
