There are a few common mental health themes in my family.
I know that mental illness is largely genetic as well as experiential.
This explains why so many folks in my family tree have the same mental problems. A lot of us suffer from substance abuse and depressive issues. Some of us also have extreme anxiety and neuroticism to contend with. My mother is one of the people who follows on at the neurotic end of the spectrum. In fact, she has some of the worst social anxiety I have ever seen. Recently, it got so bad that she couldn’t even call her local heating, cooling, and air quality control dealership herself. Every time we spoke she told me that the indoor air quality was getting worse. She was experiencing hot and cold temperature fluctuations that she could not fix herself. All of the insulation, double paned windows, and sealant in the world were not keeping the indoor air temperature stable. Eventually, I told her that she really needed to call the local air quality control dealership because I couldn’t listen to her complain about the air temperature anymore. My mom told me she would rather just be uncomfortable. That’s why I decided to call the heating, cooling, and ventilation repair shop for her. If she won’t take care of her own indoor air handling devices because of anxiety, I will. Hearing her complain about fluctuating indoor air temperatures does nothing but drive up my own anxiety. It’s worth it to me, I will just take care of this heating and cooling problem for her.
