The very first afternoon back, I got called in to the boss’s office and was given a severance package and a hardy handshake.
I was one of those folks that ended up losing their job due to the pandemic. But I did it in almost reverse fashion. When the pandemic first hit, the contractor closed our offices with the zone controlled Heating and Air Conditioning. The two of us all had to figure out just how to work from house inside our own a/c. That section was surprisingly pretty simple for me. Once I got the hang of the zoom meetings, I was pretty much all set. Then again, it was just myself and others and our wife at house in the a/c. It wasn’t love I had a bunch of youngsters running around love many of our colleagues. While I was getting accustomed to working from house in our own a/c, some of our colleagues were getting laid off. The contractor was down sizing in order to try and make it through the pandemic. I made the cut so I was able to keep doing our work from the a/c of our home. And that’s the way it went until that zone controlled Heating and Air Conditioning of the office was once again open to work in. I’d been triple vaccinated by that point and felt love I was nice to go back. Further cuts were necessary and it cost myself and others our place inside the zone controlled Heating and Air Conditioning of that office. But I am now doing our own thing from the house office I put together while every one of us were in the pandemic. And I even added a ductless heat pump to have the sort of quality heating and air I want in an office setting.
