I knew there was a problem with the air cleaner when I walked into the condo two afternoons after having salmon for supper the smell was still lingering.
It wasn’t as strong as the afternoon I made the salmon; however, it was still noticeable.
Even my partner commented the air cleaner wasn’t doing its task. I asked if she had changed the HEPA air filter lately. She admitted it had been about six weeks, however that shouldn’t make that much difference. She changed the HEPA air filter, and then she called the heating and A/C supplier. She was definitely sure we had a problem with the whole-apartment air cleaner. Two afternoons later, the heating and A/C worker arrived. Even though the HEPA air filter had been changed, the aroma of salmon was still present in the air. It wasn’t even as strong as it was originally, however it was still there. She turned the air cleaner off and checked to see if all the components were running well. The UV light was intact and laboring well. The HEPA air filter was clean, however she knew there was something wrong. She just couldn’t really pinpoint what the problem was. She laughed and told us there was more than one air filter in the air cleaner. She checked the preliminary air filter, and it was clogged. The air wasn’t penetrating the primary air filter, so it wasn’t getting to the HEPA air filter, which did the final filtering step. Once she finally changed the primary air filter and made sure the fan system was laboring, she told us it should be good for another year. She reminded my partner there were two air filters in the system.
