I had to call the Heating & Air Conditioning supplier and request having someone come to the household and find the reason for there being no airflow in the house, but there was a loss of heat coming from the air vent, and I knew there had to be something wrong with the heater.
- The furnace was less than a year old, and it was still under warranty.
The next afternoon, the Heating & Air Conditioning supplier was at our home, and we told him about the lack of airflow… He checked the heater, although he said nothing. He looked in the air filter chamber, and gave my husband a bad look. He looked at my husband and asked if he had ever changed the air filter? My husband looked at me, and then I shrugged! I hadn’t changed the air filter. I didn’t know how to change the air filter. He looked sheepish and said he hadn’t changed the air filter since the furnace was installed. I couldn’t know it when he said he didn’t know he would need to change the air filter as often as he did on the outdated heater, but a new furnace should have run cleaner and not needed constant care. The Heating & Air Conditioning tech told him he should constantly change the air filter, and we were fortunate we didn’t cause any harm to the components inside the new heater. I almost didn’t call the Heating & Air Conditioning supplier when I observed the lack of airflow, because the furnace was so new. I believe I should have known we should have been changing air filters.
