DIY air duct replacement gone wrong, we ended up spending more than we were saving

During the last Heating, Ventilation, and A/C equipment repair we had at our home, the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman told us that we had have to replace the entire air duct since it was expansively disfigurementd and taping it wouldn’t be enough, then i asked for the cost of replacement as provided by the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier and it was $3000 which I felt was too luxurious to spend, we could do it ourselves and save it since it wasn’t a tricky Ac repair practice, or so we thought. I don’t know where everything started to fall apart, or what we did wrong but the new air duct we had purchased got disfigurementd as we tried to fix it up. We called the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C professional from the local Heating, Ventilation, and A/C equipment corporation through their condo services to come check out if they could fix it and reclaim the air conditioner duct even though she unblessedly told us we had broken too much of it. We had purchased it online so we blamed it on quality and not our questionable air conditioner knowledge. We should have just paid for Heating, Ventilation, and A/C repair because now we had have to spend my savings for what we were avoiding plus the cost of purchasing more ducts for our central Heating, Ventilation, and A/C because we still needed help with indoor comfort, and taping the disfigurementd ducts would not work too and there was a high risk that it would interfere with air quality and possibly increase our energy bills. We learned the lesson that ducts are not similar to changing the Ac filter which we’ve done for years and I don’t suppose I willbe attempting such a project any time soon. In my opinion, changing ducts should be left to the experts, forget the various tutorials on how to DIY.
