Limiting my A/C usage

Lately, there has been a lot of information coming out about saving energy and being green for the sake of the environment.

  • Part of this is being spread through social media and conservative views while the other part is coming from homeowners looking for ways to save on their bills.

I am not an environmentalist, however I do like the idea of saving energy usage and money. My home is cooled by an amazing central air conditioning system. Although the weather conditions are pretty moderate where I live, I like having the central air running in my house to maintain a comfortable environment. However, after doing some research and learning more about how much energy is actually used by central air conditioning, I decided to cut back on my usage. With the amount of time I travel for work and leisure, it is completely unnecessary for me to have my central cooling on day and night. Even when I go out of town, I keep my air conditioner set at the same temperatures as when I am right at home. Not only do I think it is great to help out the environment in any simple way I can, but it is also a bonus to save money on my monthly cooling bills. So, instead of coming and going as I please, I have decided to make a strict schedule for times I can keep my central air conditioner running throughout the billing cycle. I think this cooling schedule will be beneficial financially and environmentally as long as I maintain a regulated indoor climate.
