I labor as a dispatch person for a local HVAC repair shop plus I assume I have heard it all.
Whether it is critters in the air duct or little Johnny just poured syrup down the air vent you would not suppose the types of items people call about, but the other day I got a call from a frantic mom that said her child had taken the cover off the floor vent to make a little current home for their current kitten.
I knew immediately what was going to follow. The kitten, being curious as they are, had decided to take a walk in the air duct. It is Summer so I knew that the gas furnace was off even though I also knew that this could spell trouble for both the kitten plus the HVAC system. Thankfully this purchaser did not have central air so the method was shut down completely, but my first piece of advice was to try plus coax the kitten out with treats plus I told them that the two of us would send someone out if that didn’t work. An minute later she called back plus said that they hadn’t had any luck. She thought that she heard the kitten somewhere in the lines in the basement. Her child was crying loudly in the background so I told her I could have a serviceman out in just over an minute. The guy I sent said he felt prefer a hero when he got back to the office because when he opened up the lines plus the little girl saw her kitten she gave him a big hug. These kinds of calls can be interesting plus at least this one had a blissful ending. I don’t assume that the little girl will ever open up the floor vents again that is for sure.
