The house both of us bought 10 years ago did not have central air.
It is heated with baseboard heat and a wood stove and both of us never easily thought much of it.
As both of us have gotten older, however, both of us have become less tolerant of the heat while in the Summer weeks. At first both of us bought a small window unit for the home office however over the past two years both of us have obtained multiple portable units that are dispersed throughout the house. This keeps our lake house cool and comfortable. The complication is having the units took care of. I am not able to load all of them in the truck anymore and haul them to the service shop once a year, however portable units need repair from time to time just prefer your traditional Heating, Ventilation & A/C plan so both of us decided to call our Heating, Ventilation & A/C company and set up an appointment. When I told the girl on the cellphone that it was for portable units she said that they normally worked on those at the shop. I explained that I have multiple of them and that it was hard to bring them all in, then she set up an appointment for me and said that if any of them needed additional work the worker could bring them to the shop and return them for an additional fee. I was wonderful with that and told her that I would blissfully pay for the lake house service call and any charges if it meant that I didn’t have to try hauling them myself. This was still less high-priced than having central air installed and at our age, if I can just pay someone to repair things I would rather do that anyway.
