Although nobody physically runs in my family, HVAC-related work definitely runs in my family.
Aside from a few exceptions, almost everyone in my family does something in the family-owned HVAC company that we have.
It all started with my great-grandfather. My great-grandfather was alive when HVAC units just started to become a household product. Before then, only corporations could afford a forced-air furnace or an air conditioner. These HVAC units were massive, and only big companies could use them. However, HVAC manufacturers started developing smaller HVAC units for houses, and people were beginning to buy them. My great-grandfather was a very wise man, and he realized that if he learned how to fix HVAC units, he could become rich. These people were buying HVAC units as fast as the manufacturers could make them, and in a few years, they would need an HVAC technician that knew how to fix them. My father started raising money and went to college, and he learned how to fix HVAC units. He started his very own HVAC company when the HVAC units that people owned started needing repairs, and he grew the HVAC company into a large company. Now, my entire family works for the HVAC company that my great-grandfather started, and we love it. There aren’t a lot of chain HVAC companies, but ours has been very successful. Nobody ever has to wonder what our kids are going to be when they grow up. They will probably be HVAC technicians like everyone else. I am so glad that I decided to become an HVAC technician too!
