Of course my boyfriend and I got a home inspection before we bought our house.
The home inspector told us the HVAC equipment was 17 years old and didn’t keep the house cold.
My boyfriend was all up in arms that we would need a new HVAC device before moving in. I have pushed him off buying new heating and air. Why buy HVAC until it breaks? My boyfriend was really worried about the AC aspect. The summers in the south are hot and long. My boyfriend also is one of those people who love AC. After moving in it was clear the air conditioner wasn’t working so good. Rather than throw in the towel, I decided to give the cooling system some love and care. I vacuumed inside and all around the unit. I cleaned the condensate drain and the debris that was around the outdoor air compressor. The last step was changing the air filter on the system. The air filter was clogged with hair, dust and dirt. It was basically a big hairy ball of grime. Once the new air conditioning filter was in, my system acted brand new. The house is as cold as the two of us want it. I actually don’t like how cold the AC can make our home now. My boyfriend is practically bursting into song over the AC system. Our HVAC may be old, but it seems to work just fine now. I am thinking rather than keep money saved towards HVAC, we can update our house a bit.
