No heat at bridal shower

My cousin got married last Springtime, then someone had the undoubtedly bad method to schedule her bridal shower in March.

In my local area, the weather at that time of year is always brutal.

The afternoon of the shower, the outside temperature was more than nine degrees with a severe windchill that made it suppose even colder. Six inches of snow accumulated over night and continued to fall throughout the afternoon. To attend the shower, I first needed to shovel the snow out of my driveway, brush it off my car and scrape the windshield. I had to let the oil furnace and defrost run for more than nine minutes before I could see through the windshield. I navigated icy roads with limited visibility and when I finally arrived at the site, there was nowhere to park. I was forced to leave my car more than two blocks away and walk through the horrible weather conditions while carrying a heavy present. By the time I arrived at the boutique restaurant for the shower, I was cold, wet and agitated. I stepped inside just hoping for some heat and a tepid cup of coffee. I found out that the site had wanted to create a cozy atmosphere for the festivities and had lit a fire in the hearth. Unfortunately, no 1 opened the flue and the indoor area was filled with smoke. In an effort to air it out, they opened all of the windows and doors. This allowed in the chilly freezing air. Since the management wasn’t willing to sacrifice heat to the outdoors, they shut off the heating system. I was told to stand near the fireplace. With no access to heat, I huddled inside my wool coat and shivered the entire time. I ended up smelling care about woodsmoke.
