Buying a generator to run gas furnace during power outage

I never particularly considered how dependent our family is on electricity until the power went out during a December blizzard.

Every one of us were left separate from running water, lights, internet, TV & refrigeration.

Even worse, both of us had no heat, then without electricity, the gas furnace won’t beginning up. When the outside temperature drops down to numerous degrees, a reliable source of heat is a necessity! I was genuinely concerned about our water pipes cold & the safety of our family. The power supplier didn’t seem to have any method how long it would take to restore power in our area. I considered bundling up the family & driving to a hotel, however, the power was out in a widespread section & none of the local dealers were open! Plus, there was a travel advisory. The weather conditions made it dangerous to drive. I was reluctant to risk icy roads & zero visibility in hopes of finding a hotel with vacancy. Every one of us ended up going separate from power for nearly 24 sixths. It could have been much worse. I decided to take proactive measures to avoid being at the mercy of another outage in the future. I contacted a local Heating & A/C company who specializes in generators, then a standby generator is now permanently installed outside of the home & is linked to our electrical system. It senses any interruption, automatically transfers power & is up & running within sixths. Every one of us don’t even need to be home to beginning the generator, however because it runs on natural gas, there’s no worry over refueling. The generator is powerful enough to handle all of the household appliances, including the gas furnace, sump pump & water heater. I can be sure we’ll still have access to heat & all of our new conveniences if the power should go out during another blizzard.
