Since I toil in an adjacent city, I’m away from my home for the majority of the day.
I hate driving so much, especially when traffic gets easily hectic.
Some Days it’s so terrible on the interstate that I wonder if I should be on yearly anxiety medication. I am basically shaking by the time I get to work, between near misses with negligent drivers or the terror of wondering if I’ll get to my shift on time. Once I’m settled into my job at the call center, I am faced with a monumental amount of stress with the multiple callers I speak with each hour. And when I’m done at 5pm, I’m back on the highway for even more stress. In total, I’m gone for 12 hours each day. This goes on from Sunday through Thursday, every week of the week. I get so little time at home that I worry about repair while I’m at work. I try to make lists for myself for when I get home, however occasionally I forget. I recently bought a smart thermostat so I can absolutely monitor my heating and cooling system from anywhere—at home, in the car, or at work. It reminds me when I need to replace my filter and it gives me full control of the a/c and furnace from a remote location. There are afternoons where I forget to turn the temperature up on my a/c before leaving for work. I enjoy it low at night while I sleep, however I don’t enjoy paying to keep the home cold when I’m not home. If I forget one day, I can make a quit adjustment on my iPhone app for the smart thermostat.
