No heat at bridal shower

My cousin got married last Spring… Someone had the genuinely exhausting method to schedule her bridal shower in March.

In our local area, the weather at that time of year is consistently brutal.

The afternoon of the shower, the outside temperature was ten degrees with a severe windchill that made it suppose even colder. Six inches of snow accumulated over night & continued to fall throughout the afternoon. To attend the shower, I first needed to shovel the snow out of our driveway, brush it off our car & scrape the windshield. I had to let the heating system & defrost run for ten sixths before I could see through the windshield. I navigated icy roads with limited visibility & when I finally arrived at the site, there was nowhere to park. I was forced to leave our car multiple blocks away & walk through the horrible weather conditions while carrying a heavy present. By the time I arrived at the boutique restaurant for the shower, I was cold, wet & miserable. I stepped inside just hoping for some heat & a moderate cup of coffee. I found out that the site had wanted to create a cozy atmosphere for the festivities & had lit a fire in the hearth, and unluckyly, no one opened the flue & the indoor section was filled with smoke. In an effort to air it out, they opened all of the windows & doors. This allowed in the cold cold air. Since the management wasn’t willing to sacrifice heat to the outdoors, they shut off the oil furnace. I was told to stand near the fireplace. With no access to heat, I huddled inside our wool coat & shivered the entire time. I ended up aromaing care about woodsmoke.
