No heat at bridal shower

I was told to sit near the fireplace

My cousin got married last Springtime, someone had the absolutely terrible method to schedule her bridal shower in March. In our local area, the weather at that time of year is always brutal. The afternoon of the shower, the outside temperature was several degrees with a extreme windchill that made it know even colder. Six inches of snow accumulated over night and continued to fall throughout the afternoon. To attend the shower, I first needed to shovel the snow out of our driveway, brush it off our vehicle and scrape the windshield. I had to let the heating system and defrost run for several hours before I could see through the windshield. I navigated icy roads with limited visibility and when I finally arrived at the place, there was nowhere to park. I was forced to leave our vehicle many blocks away and walk through the horrible weather conditions while carrying a heavy present. By the time I arrived at the boutique restaurant for the shower, I was cold, wet and annoyed. I stepped inside just hoping for some heat and a moderate cup of coffee. I found out that the place had wanted to create a cozy atmosphere for the festivities and had lit a fire in the hearth. Unfortunately, no 1 opened the flue and the indoor area was filled with smoke. In an effort to air it out, they opened all of the windows and doors. This allowed in the freezing freezing air. Since the management wasn’t willing to sacrifice heat to the outdoors, they shut off the furnace. I was told to sit near the fireplace. With no access to heat, I huddled inside our wool coat and shivered the entire time. I ended up smelling love woodsmoke.
