My Friend in another Country

I have always considered heating and cooling a necessity.

If it gets too cold inside your home, you can freeze to death.

Particularly vulnerable to such a death are the elderly and the infirm, but often, older people are isolated and if their furnace stops laboring, they don’t suppose what to do. If they also happen to be poor, they may not realize that they can still get heating oil or furnace repair through various private and government programs. The same is true where I live, in the south. If someone’s air conditioner is broken or they can’t afford their power bill, they will often try to live without air conditioner. Without air conditioner system, though, people are seriously vulnerable to decreased health service or even death. That is why I was so surprised when I became friends with a person who lives in another country… Despite the fact that she lives in a unquestionably tropical weather conditions, she does not use air conditioner. She insists that recycled air conditioner is not healthy for people, and she refuses to use the brand up-to-date mini break air conditioner system that is hanging above her door frame in her kitchen. I sometimes guess a bit sorry for her hubby because I suppose he would absolutely appreciate a little air conditioner system now and then. She does do things to supply cooling in other ways. They both go to the beach and swim. The houses are built so that they have a cross breeze, then neighbors have what are called dipping pools. All of these can cool you off without air conditioner, and she seems healthy enough, but it still astonishes myself and others how we can have such unusual outlooks in two unusual countries.
