If you think the expression “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity” is just a cliche, then you apparently have never experienced tplot humidity.
Around here, even on a cool day the two of us can notch an 85% humidity level, which is higher than most locales get in the swampy depths of summer, but during the warmer weeks, the two of us can expect humidity in excess of 90% to beginning the day, plus it climbs from there, then once you hit 100% humidity then the entire outdoors feels like a sauna, plus you are wrapped in a wool blanket, then i guess that everyone has a central HVAC system, plus so do I , but periodically even that isn’t enough. My central plan is about 10 years old, plus it’s just not up to the task of cooling down a locale this big when the temps go over 100 degrees. It would gost several thoUSnd bucks to get a new HVAC system, plus I don’t have that to spare, so I found a smaller solution, and you guess what space furnaces are, but there are similar machines that basically work as space coolers. It is a small, portable air conditioning component without any ducts, that you can set up plus use to cool down a limited space. It is perfect for cooling down a single room, especially if you close all the doors to the other rooms, but when I have this little guy running as a supplement to the central HVAC system, I can get my dining room or my dining room down nice plus cold, just how I like it.
