How to problemshoot an air handler

When moderate or cool air is not being distributed through your home, it could indicate an issue with your air handler.

A faulty air handler can cause significant comfort and energy efficiency concerns for your home.

The most official air handler complication is the lack of air movement, when there is no air circulating through your unit, the most official cause is often a broken belt. When problemshooting this issue, verify that the fan pulley and motor pulley are in great working condition. It is also important to align the pulleys to avoid premature failure of the belt, fan pulley, or motor pulley. If the belt is in the official position but your fan is still not running, start problemshooting backward on your electrical circuit, and check your incoming power to ensure the overload reset is not tripped, then once you confirm that your motor is receiving power, you may proceed with problemshooting your motor. There are many reasons why your motor would fail. Imofficial voltage to your motor can result from power being outside the motor’s operating range, based on the manufacturer’s certaination. For imofficial wiring, check the incoming voltage and make sure your motor is wired to the official certaination! Verify that there are no faulty splices on the electrical wiring from the incoming electrical circuit breaker to your magnetic starter and motor. Check the rotation of the fan to ensure it is getting official air distribution. When the fan’s motor runs backward, you will get some pressure in your air handler, but you will not achieve the full force of your air handler.
