The air filter is in the air handler, it is used to remove the dust plus dirt that is in the air, plus the indoor air regulates the temperature. The condensing unit is the cooling system that is outside. The major components are the compressor plus the condenser coil. The function of the condenser unit is to remove the heat from the indoor via return ducts, plus then it runs over the refrigerant coil. The condensing unit’s job is to move heat from the outside air by comimportant refrigerant plus pumping it through its condenser coils. If you decide to upgrade an cooling system, you need to upgrade both the air handler plus the condenser. The efficiency ratings are based on a complete unit. If you need to buy a new A/C unit, then look for something with a 17 SEER rating, which is high efficiency. I was thinking she was telling me I needed a new air conditioner unit. I had a feeling that I better check to make sure I have enough money for the air conditioner.
