Getting to workout outdoors is a treat

I had a really wonderful workout today.

  • I didn’t expect to have the option of exercising outside.

It is the middle of November and the weather has turned toward winter. The leaves are pretty much brown and falling from the trees. The temperature has started to cool off and it’s =windy and rainy nearly every day. I was starting to unroll my yoga mat and lace up my sneakers when I noticed the sun come out from the clouds. I peeked outside and was thrilled by how warm the air felt. I was able to wear shorts and a T-shirt for my workout. I have a deck across the entire back of the house. It is spacious and elevated. It provides a lovely view of the flower gardens, a large pond and wooded area. The deck is an ideal spot to workout. I get the opportunity to inhale fresh air and feel the sun on my skin. I am motivated and enjoy myself. I tend to push myself harder. I took plenty of time to warm up and loosen my muscles. I then spread out my mat and chose a program from the jump rope app on my phone. I picked an advanced level HIIT session that was 40 minutes long. The program used a quarter-pound jump rope as well as a half-pound jump rope. In-between intervals of different types of jumps, the app guided me through abdominal crunches, squat thrusts, squat holds and jumping jacks. It was a strenuous workout that burned over 400 calories. At the conclusion of it, I was spent and sweaty but felt fantastic. I then completed a deep stretch and cool down. I’m crossing my fingers for nice weather again tomorrow.
