There were a lot of people other that me that had to go through a tough career curveball due to the pandemic. Yet, I have to say that I was completely caught off guard and really hurt by my situation. The surprise was being let go after we all got through the pandemic and got the offices with the zone controlled HVAC open again. Had I been canned when the pandemic first started as a result of the business going under would have been one thing. But as a mid sized company, we were able to rally, work from home in our own air conditioning and keep the business afloat. It was quite the effort among a team of people who were really fighting for each other’s livelihood. It was clear by the end of 2020, that our business would not only survive but continue to thrive. Once most of us were able to be vaccinated, the offices with all that zone controlled HVAC opened up again. But I was there for less than a day. I was called in and pretty much just terminated due to restructuring or so I was told. There were a few others that got the boot as well. The thing we all had in common was that we were collecting the higher salaries as we had been around from the beginning. And that’s what ended up being the traumatic part of all of this. I’d spent almost 30 years of my life helping to build that business. Yet, I was out on my butt in the space of 15 minutes. Didn’t even get to pack up my own office
