My garage has five windows on the front of it and just about all of them have been broken by my sons.
My boys like to play street hockey and there is always a stray puck flying around.
My car has dents, the side of the house has been hit and of course, the windows get trashed. I recently have gotten smart about window replacement though. Now when I replace the window I add a shatterproof window film to it. The shatter window film is just like a protective layer that allows the glass to crack, but it doesn’t smash to tiny pieces. Then when I replace the window, it is an easier process. The shatterproof window film isn’t expensive at all and now I can do it myself. I have done it more than five times. Unfortunately not every window has been hit too. Out of the five windows, four of them have been hit. One of the windows has actually been hit three times. So I have four brand new windows with good shatterproof films. It looks very classy and modern. I then have one ugly, stained window on the side of my garage that hasn’t been hit by a puck yet. I feel I am not allowed to replace it though. That is the rules of the game after all. I feel that window is just lucky and gets to live. I am hopeful that someday the boys will either be more careful or stop breaking windows. Then my garage can be totally redone and the windows will be safe.
