My boss provided myself and Bran a raise if we could learn how to drive the forklift.
I certainly thought it sounded to be a simple job.
I wasn’t concerned about studying the job. A neighbor of mine provided instructions to teach myself and Bran how. Every afternoon after work, I stayed for an hour so my neighbor could teach myself and Bran how to drive the forklift. Bran and I drove the lift all over the floor of the building where there was plenty of room for myself and others to learn how to maneuver and raise the lift both up and down. I performed genuinely well until I had to make a quick turn at the last hour. I did not see an industrial air cleaner resting on the corner of the shelf. The industrial air cleaner is worth over $5,000. I nearly took it out with the forklift. After I almost hit the air cleaner, I got out of the forklift and said to Bran that I thought I was done for the afternoon… Bran told myself and others that accidents happen all the time and that I should not get frustrated because I almost hit the air cleaner. She told myself and others that every woman makes mistakes and mangles locales in the warehouse. There was even one time when 1 girl turned over an entire line of boxes because she misjudged the distance that she needed to turn. The women always cover for each other and make sure that no one gets in trouble. I am ready to be part of the work crew. I cannot wait until I get my certification.
