I was hoping a new HVAC was in his plans.

For the last year, my husband and I had been planning on doing some remodeling to the house.

Our house was nearly thirty-five years old, and it needed some upgrades.

We knew we needed to have some wiring done, and the plumbing was getting bad. We also wanted to add an apartment in the attic area, for our daughter, who would soon be eighteen. Once we got the mortgage for our home, we were set to start the work. We hired a contractor, but I knew there was something missing. With all the changes in the house, I was hoping a new HVAC system was in his plans. We were changing our bedroom, and I knew there was no heating or air conditioning in the attic. The area was going to be insufferable if there wasn’t insulation installed and a mini-split HVAC system installed. I asked him about his intentions in installing a new HVAC. He looked at the plans from the contractor and said he didn’t see anything about an HVAC system. He called the contractor and told him we wanted a new HVAC system, and we were discussing ductless HVAC. We knew we would need a unit for the apartment and one for our bedroom, but we needed an HVAC contractor to help us decide how many more units we would need to keep our home comfortable. Once the HVAC contractor arrived, he went over the plans from the contractor, and all the changes we were proposing. He asked about an exit for the attic, that would separate from the main area, and he asked a few more questions. Within an hour, we had our new HVAC system on the way, and we didn’t need to change a thing with the general contractor.
