My husband was supposed to have the morning off. I planned a family outing for the morning. All of us were taking our twin nine-year-old sons to the zoo. Just as we were about to walk out the door, his iphone went off. It was his morning off, and I thought he would either leave his iphone off or turn the ringer off. It didn’t work that way. He took the call and told the person on the other end he would be there in an hour. I gritted my teeth, wondering if he thought I was going to take the trip to the zoo off the table for the morning. He told myself and others it was his task, and he had to take care of this lady’s air conditioner. I knew he was an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C serviceman. I also knew that he was the owner of the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C dealer. I thought he could just take a morning off whenever he wanted. Unluckyly, when all of his techs are off duty for the morning, or already on calls, the responsibility for the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C plan of his clients comes down to him. He apologized and told myself and others he would see myself and others when he got home. I looked at my sons, who were already heading up to their room. I asked them where they were going; or didn’t they want to be seen with just their mom? All of us hopped in the automobile and left for the zoo, while our resident Heating, Ventilation, and A/C tech headed off to work. He was not going to ruin our morning at the zoo.
