I absolutely hate trying to find housing.
When I signed the lease on my last apartment, I had no idea what kind of nightmare I was getting myself into with this revolving door of owners and management companies.
I had no idea there were these conglomerates that come into apartment complexes and manage the facilities and residents for whoever is the current owner. Imagine you find an apartment complex with horrible reviews, especially regarding the management. You go out of your way to find a different apartment complex across town, only to find out that they are managed by the same umbrella corporation. I have found at least three separate companies in my city alone where this is applicable. My goal right now is to find a private landlord, as well as an affordable furnished living space. A lot of my furniture is sitting in a storage unit on the other side of the country. It will probably be well over six months before I can foreseeably get any of it out and ship it or drive it to my new location. Even though I moved for work purposes, my new company doesn’t offer any short term or long term corporate housing. If I want an affordable furnished living space, I have to find it on my own. Unfortunately, I might have to raise my budget if I still want an apartment that comes furnished, as the options I’m finding are more expensive than I expected. I’m on the internet several times each day looking at new listings for housing in my area. I just hope that I can move out of this hotel as soon as possible before I burn through what little money I have left.
