With 3 kids, 2 dogs, 3 cats, and 4 guinea pigs it was just time to expand a little bit.
We looked at over a dozen places before finding the one for us. The funny thing is that we kept bypassing the perfect home. We saw the advertisement many times. We loved everything about it. Everything, that is, except for the fact that it has a heated garage. We could tell from the pictures that the ductwork from the house goes into the garage. We just couldn’t see paying to heat and cool the garage all year long. That seems like an unnecessary expense. Our realtor finally asked us why we wouldn’t even look at that house. When we explained the situation, she laughed. She said that the whole house has zone control. This means that we can decide how hot or cold we want each room of the house. This includes the garage. So, if we don’t want to heat or cool the garage, we can turn off the HVAC ducts leading to the garage entirely. Or, in the winter, we can set the garage temperatures to 50 degrees so that our cars don’t freeze. That sounded amazing. We decided to go and look at the house and we instantly fell in love with it. We are closing on the house now. I have to say, they really should have put the bit about zone control in the advertisement. For us, it made all of the difference. But then, maybe others bypassed the house too because they didn’t know. Maybe that’s why we ended up with the house.
