Why would you pour milk down my ductwork?

I want to say something to my sister but I fear that will open up old wounds.

I invited my sister over and she brought her kids. My sister and I haven’t always been on speaking terms but we were trying to patch things up. I was happy to see my nieces so that was nice too. Or, at least I thought it was nice. I served milk and cookies to the kids while my sister and I had coffee and we talked. After they left I noticed that my house smelled like milk still but I didn’t think much of it. However, as the days passed the smell got worse and worse. It smelled like rotting milk. It got so bad that I felt like throwing up. I cleaned the floors and looked for any trace of the milk but couldn’t find any. Then the electric furnace kicked on and the smell got so much worse. I took off the vent in the dining room and found the milk. Someone had poured it down my ductwork. I quickly turned off the furnace and called up a furnace supplier. I clearly needed a good ductwork cleaning. I just don’t understand why the child did such a thing. I want to say something to my sister but I fear that will open up old wounds. I wonder if they make plastic HVAC vent covers so I can protect my ductwork next time the kids are here. I really don’t want any more refreshments down inside of my ductwork system every again but I don’t want to drive my family away either. There has to be a way that I can accomplice both goals.
