I actually remember how happy my dad was when my mother got him a programmable thermostat for his birthday so long ago. He was so eager to start saving money on the energy bills with the perfect schedule for the different temperature control settings. He had the HVAC set to only start working right before everybody got back home. My parents would get home around the same time I would get home from school which suited us just fine. Well now I am grown and out of the house and I have gone to visit on many occasions. I can’t believe that my father still uses that old programmable thermostat. He didn’t understand what the problem was, he said he loves that thermostat. I told him that maybe he should get with the times. I told him about smart thermostats and how they don’t have to be programmed because they program themselves according to your temperature control preferences. He thought that was cool but didn’t see a need for replacement. Then I told him how you could adjust the temperature control settings from anywhere with your phone when you have a smart thermostat.
