A programmable thermostat for my HVAC

When I started living on my own I barely knew a thing about residential HVAC but now as a seasoned homeowner, I have learned a lot about them.

Most of the knowledge I have acquired has been from numerous calls to homeowner solutions businesses and an HVAC professional when they come for maintenance or repairs. It took me a while to be confident enough to change a furnace filter on my own, I always ordered it and had a technician replace it for me. It was not so long ago when I found out that even an air duct requires cleaning every couple of years. I always thought that quality HVAC had an indoor air cleaning system and an air purification system, while this may be true in some it is not always the case. A typical air filter may not be able to achieve all that and one may be required to buy additional equipment to achieve high indoor air quality. I remember when the cooling specialist suggested that I upgrade my old thermostat to a programmable one. I was adamant about not getting one from my local HVAC supplier because I did not get the concept of replacing something that was still working but when he told me it would help me cut back on the electricity bill I was sold. It was immediately evident on my next energy bill, the old regulator was making my heating and cooling system run more because other than being old it was also faulty. I have also learned that ac service and maintenance go a long way in improving air quality in the home and also prevent costly repairs and part replacement.
