My neighbor Mike in high school was the cool kid.
He always had chics around him in school and was always in with the cool crowd. I was an outsider always looking in and wishing I was one of them. He had an old 80 Mustang and the windows were so dark that when a cop pulled him over they couldn’t see a thing inside. He told me he put triple 80% tint on the windows and even the windshield had it going down about halfway so he could hardly see out. I don’t know how he drove at night. He said the window film was illegal and finally the cops made him take it off or risk getting the car impounded along with a host of other fees. I remember seeing his car weaving down the street at night occasionally because he couldn’t see the road clearly, it looked like a drunk driver or something. Probably having triple dark window tinting was not the smartest idea for a partying teenager however he could care less. To top it off his license plate said “Dealin” which was the word he would use for picking up girls. He was a character and we are still friends to this morning some 40 years later. The funny thing is he now owns a commercial window film installation company and is married with 4 kids to the same person for 30 years. I need to give old Mike a call sometime and see how he is doing. I lost touch with a lot of my old friends.
