As a stay-at-home mom of two rambunctious 5 year old boys I can’t tell you how happy I was when the first day of school arrived. It was bittersweet because they were old enough to go to school but it also meant that I would have some quality time to myself. They had been in school about two weeks when I had a conference with the teacher to see how things were going, she said that everything was great and that way she was surprised that the boys were getting so many new pets. I was very confused at that point and then she showed me a paper that my son had done and it made everything clear. Over the course of the summer our children had overheard my husband and I talking about upgrades we were making to our heating and cooling system in the house. Apparently, when we were discussing the addition of ductwork in the attic, are one son had taken it as we were getting “ducks” in the attic. He had proceeded to tell his teacher that he was excited that his dad was building a pen in the upstairs for all of the new birds that would be living there. I guess I can understand this mistake because the to sound very similar but I knew he would be disappointed when he found out that there weren’t going to be any. His teacher and I got a good laugh out of it and she wished me luck on the explanation part that I had to do that evening. I had my husband take the boys up into the attic and show them what we were talking about when it came to the HVAC improvements. I only hope that that would clear the air on the situation.
